January 2012

Hi WEBSITE

Two glorious weeks in Bali and I can truly attest to it's relaxation as many books were devoured.  I just love those kinds of vacations.  As slow paced as my holidays were was the stark contrast of coming back into the hustle and bustle of a city centre.  Living next to an international tennis stadium which happened to be hosting the world's best upon my return only added to the change in pace.

But, here's the best example of an annoying scenario turned good: an infestation of weevils (small little pods that turn into small moth-like adults) covering our entire food pantry!  What could be good about that?  The fact that we had to immediately take out all the food and clean the pantry top to bottom and then throw out anything that had been sitting there too long then led to a frenzied clean out of the fridge as well.  Those darn weevils helped begin the clean out of 2012!  I have to admit that if it hadn't been for that immediately threat, I would have put it off another year and I would have missed out on the refreshing clean space that has been provided for my new year.

It is so much bigger than a cleared out, cleaned out pantry and fridge; it's a tapped in, tuned in, turned on mind and spirit!  I am now ready!  I feel like the cobwebs have been washed away and that opportunities abound.  I am now tackling my closet and giving away anything that I don't absolutely "love to bits" or have worn in the last 4 months.  My closet has represented disappointment for me in the last 6 months as I continue to keep clothes around hoping they will fit me again when my old body returns.  By the time I move "forward" to a fit and trim bod, the newer fashion will be calling anyway!  As the Tao de Ching understood so well: "When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be." – Lao Tzu

Clear House Equals Clear Mind!

The most important thing to remember in this month's game is that it be fun along the way. The brain loves the feeling of completion and new, fresh beginnings yet we often have so many things swimming in our minds that we become paralyzed by the overwhelm of what it takes to clean and clear something out.

Goal For 2012: NO MORE GOALS!

Posted Friday, December 30, 2011. By Sarah Maxwell

Last week it was looking over a valley of rice paddies and now I'm sitting oceanside along the coast of Bali.  Is there a better place to create profound resolutions for 2012?  My group of friends vacationing with me decided that it would be fun to make a list of what we wanted out of this coming year and then we'll share them with each other before the clock strikes twelve! read more
